Ishan Kishan joins MS Dhoni in record books

Team India opener Ishan Kishan smashed back to back three half-centuries in the three ODIs and joined legendary wicketkeeper-batsman and former skipper MS Dhoni in the record books. Kishan became the sixth Indian batter to hit three back-to-back fifties in a three-match ODI series. The last batsman to achieve the record was Shreyas Iyer in 2020 against New Zealand.

Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Mohammad Azharuddin were the first three Indian batsmen to achieve this record and no Indian batter was able to achieve the feat since 26 years. However, later former skipper MS Dhoni broke the 26-year-old jinx and became the fourth Indian batsman to hit three consecutive ODI half-centuries against Australia in 2019.
