After a hectic 2 months long IPL and the recently concluded T20 World Cup, the Indian team is now gearing up for its next assignment, the five match T20 series against Zimbabwe. The 'men in blue' after becoming the World T20 champions will now travel to Zimbabwe and their first assignment is on July 6, 2024. The 'Men in Blue' play the first match of their tour at the Harare Sports Club, Harare.

A New Look Indian Team To Take On Zimbabwe

The Indian team have just become World T20 Champions and have received a historic welcome in their homeland. But at the same time, another group of Indian players were already stationed in Zimbabwe who were sweating it out in training nets. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have now retired from T20Is and its now time for the next generation to carry the Indian team forward. Both Rohit and Virat have bowed out of the out as the T20 World Cup Champions and they couldn't have asked for a better finish to their T20I careers.

Men in Blue To Have An Upgrade In Their Kit?

India scripted history as they edged past South Africa by 7 runs and went on to win their second T20 World Cup trophy. This was Team India's second World T20 title across 9 editions. When the Indian team landed in Delhi and later went on to Mumbai for their victory parade, the word 'Champions' was inscribed on their jersey, but that was only meant for the World T20 Champions. Team India's T20 World Cup jersey might have two stars inscribed on them, signifying two T20 World Cup wins.

Players To Watch Out For In ZIM vs IND T20I series

Shubman Gill the captain of India's side will have a lot riding on his back. Once, considered as Virat Kohli's heir, Gill has been off the radar for sometime and also lost his place in India's T20I WC squad. He will look to revamp his form and lead his team to a series victory. On the other hand, there is Riyan Parag who had a splendid IPL 2024 and has been selected in the Indian team. Parag will look to deliver for the Indian middle order. Abhishek Sharma took the IPL by storm as he along with Travis Heard orchestrated many lethal opening stands for Sunrisers Hyderabad, the youngster will look to replicate the same for Team India too.
