Pragyan Ojha Reveals The Champion's Mentality That Rohit Sharma Possesses
While the experience has contributed to making Rohit Sharma a great cricketer, the player carried the champion's mentality from his formative years. Former India spinner Pragyan Ojha recently revealed advice he received from Rohit Sharma when he was playing at the U19 level. Ojha has shared the dressing room with Sharma at different avenues and brought forward the acumen of Rohit Sharma.
Ojha disseminates that Rohit once told him the formula to attain a position in Team India. Ojha stated that Rohit was aware from the outset that only a "match-winner" gets to wear the iconic blue jersey of India.
“The best advice I received was from Rohit Sharma when we were playing U19 cricket. He said, ‘Everyone wants to play for the country because we have come at the U19 level. But if you want to play for India for a long time, then you need to be a match-winner,” Ojha said.
Pragyan Ojha's Career In Numbers
Ojha played for India in 24 Test matches, 18 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and six Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). He was particularly noteworthy in Test cricket, where he claimed 113 wickets, including seven five-wicket hauls. His final appearance for the national team was in 2013 during the two-Test series against the West Indies in Mumbai, which also marked the last Test match for batting legend Sachin Tendulkar.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma is poised to return to the field next month when India hosts Bangladesh for a two-Test series, which will also kick off the team’s home season.
