The Unusual Case of Ishan Kishan: Will the Stumper Get a Chance of Revival Under Gambhir’s Tutelage?
Will the upcoming Sri Lanka be a chance of revival for wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan? Will the Stumper receive the chance under the new coaching regime?
Team India is all set to commence their tour to Sri Lanka for a white-ball series. The Men in Blue will be playing three T20I and ODI matches, and the series is significant since it will be the beginning of a new era. After the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as the coach, he will begin his tenure with the Sri Lanka series as his first assignment. Gambhir could opt for an approach fairly unique from Dravid as he is expected to give the new stars a chance to feature their talent. It also heightens the chances for those players who lost their central contracts with the BCCI.

Can Ishan Kishan return under the new coaching regime? Analyzing the situation
The India tour of Sri Lanka may feature an array of young cricketers. Given that Sri Lanka is one of the cricketing powerhouses, Coach Gautam Gambhir and the selection board will not take the selection process lightly. Under GG's tutelage, some of the outcasted cricketers like Shreyas Iyer may receive a chance of revival.
“Shreyas scored over 500 runs in the World Cup, He had two centuries as well. So, there is no doubt, he is in selectors’ minds. He has proven his worth time and again. Now, the ball is in selectors’ court to recall him for the ODIs, which I am sure, they will,” a senior BCCI officer said as per reports.

However, the case might not be the same for wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan. The young Stumper has been away since he opted out of matches to take a break after experiencing travel fatigue. However, his situation did not end well with the BCCI after he was excluded from the BCCI's list of central contract renewals.
Ishan Kishan may have to work harder in order to gain the trust of the selectors, and he may have to feature in some domestic games and showcase his prowess before being called back into national duty. Shreyas Iyer's situation has seemed to cool off and he could return in the Blues soon. But Ishan Kishan is yet to return and, his situation will be monitored as any progress emerges.
