Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019: Gujarat vs Tamil Nadu match report
Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019 semi-final between Gujarat and Tamil Nadu was played today at the Just Cricket Academy Ground. The final is scheduled for October 25.

After one month and more than 150 List-A matches in the country, the ongoing 18th edition of Vijay Hazare Trophy finally reached its knock-out stage earlier today. In the second of two semi-final matches scheduled for the day, Gujarat faced Tamil Nadu at the Just Cricket Academy Ground in Bengaluru. Reigning champions Mumbai failed to reach the final four stage after they stood fifth on the Elite Group A and B points table with just four wins out of their eight games. Before the match, Tamil Nadu captain Dinesh Karthik won the toss and decided to put Gujarat into bat.

Due to wet outfield, the match was reduced to 40 overs. The Gujarat side lost both their openers at just 16 runs on the board with their captain Parthiv Patel scoring 13 of them. Dhruv Raval top-scored with 40 runs from 37 balls. After 40 overs, the Gujarat team could only manage to put 177-9 with Tamil Nadu’s bowler Mohammed accounting for three of their wickets. Washington Sundar, Natarajan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Murugan Ashwin and Baba Aparajith picked a wicket each.

Tamil Nadu batsmen got off to a slow start, scoring just 70 runs after their first 20 overs. They soon lost their captain Dinesh Karthik to leave Tamil Nadu struggling at 96-5. However, an 85-run unbeaten partnership between Washington Sundar and Shahrukh Khan saw them reach the target without any further damage. Tamil Nadu reached their target in 39 overs with five wickets in hand.
2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy Final
As Karnataka defeated Chhattisgarh in the first semi-final, Tamil Nadu will now be facing Karnataka for the title clash on October 25. The final match is scheduled to start at 9:00 AM and will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
