Shubman Gill & Virat Kohli jokingly tease KL Rahul following Aiden Markram's dismissal
A video of a lighthearted moment between Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and KL Rahul following the removal of Aiden Markram is doing the rounds on social media. Despite his troubles against India in the first two innings of the 1st Test, Markram's outstanding effort in the second innings of the Cape Town Test was one of the greatest performances of his Test career. The tease came after Rahul dropped a simple catch during India's second Test against South Africa, and the lucky victim was centurion Aiden Markram.
Jasprit Bumrah forced a straight edge from Markram, who was batting on 73 runs, perhaps signalling the end of his innings. KL Rahul's slip of what should have been an easy catch, on the other hand, upset both Virat Kohli and spinner Bumrah at the time, surprising the cricket world.
In the context of the game, the Indian cricket team won by seven wickets, with their pacers playing a critical role. Mohammed Siraj's six-wicket haul in the first innings and Jasprit Bumrah's devastating session in the second innings both played a vital role in India's historic victory at Sahara Park Newlands.
Despite a batting disaster in their first innings in which they lost six wickets for 0 runs, India's excellent bowling performance enabled them to level the series. Following the loss in the first Test, India, which is again back on top of the WTC 2023-25 points table, hopes to qualify for another WTC final.
