Virat Kohli had an excellent outing in the second Test match against South Africa at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. He starred with the bat by scoring an unbeaten 254 and declared the Indian innings at 601/5. Kohli had also contributed on the field by taking a good low catch. The South Africans could not overhaul India's score in both their innings as the top-ranked Test side registered a comprehensive win by an innings and 137 runs to take a 2-0 unassailable lead in the three-match series. Post this big win, even 'Captain Kohli' came forward to appreciate his team's efforts.

Kohli heaps praise on his team

With the series in their bag, skipper Virat Kohli took to social media and hailed the great team effort and the spirit shown by his boys.

Kohli was also adjudged 'Man of the Match' for his outstanding knock that eventually put South Africa out of the contest.  Kohli while speaking in the post-match presser about his unbeaten knock said, "It's getting the responsibility of being captain. If you go out planning a double hundred you won't get it, but if you go out planning to bat for five sessions, the double hundred will come. The mindset change is the only reason for getting big scores. Before that, I used to think from a personal point of view, and I put pressure on myself but I think the moment you start thinking about the team, all the pressure goes away.

India enforce the follow-on

After the Proteas were bundled out in the final over of Day 3, Indian captain Virat Kohli enforced the follow-on on Day 4 as they had a massive lead of 326 runs. It worked out well as Ishant Sharma picked up the wicket of Aiden Markram on the second ball of Day 4 by trapping him plumb in front of the wicket. Dean Elgar showed some fighting spirit and was also the top-scorer for South Africa in the second innings. However, he failed to spend some quality time out in the middle as he was brilliantly caught by Umesh Yadav off Ravichandran Ashwin for a 72-ball 48. Even skipper Faf du Plessis and wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock disappointed with the bat as they were sent back to the pavilion early. Temba Bavuma (38) and Vernon Philander (37) were the others who could offer some resistance to the Proteas batting line-up as they were bowled out for 189 in the 68th over.
