Dean Elger's time as a Test cricketer came to a graceful end as the South Africa batter came off his final Test match of his competitive career. Elgar has officially bid adieu in the Test format after his second innings came to an end. The Proteas' opener was a showstopper in the first Test match after putting up an instrumental effort in the first match as SA secured the win. The people in attendance at the Cape Town stadium showcased their respect for the retiring batsman, and Kohli put up the extra effort to showcase his respect.

Dean Elgar was dismissed by Mukesh Kumar and was caught out by Virat Kohli. The opener was caught out at the score of 12 runs. As he went back, the Indian Cricket Team showcased their respect for the South Africa opener. The members of Team India in the dressing room and the entire stadium gave him a standing ovation as the batter made his way back to the dressing room.
As Dean Elgar walked back, Virat Kohli approached him and tightly hugged him. Bumrah also came towards the SA opener to embrace him, who was followed by other players before Elgar went off to an enthusiastic response from the fans at the Newlands Cricket Ground.

Dean Elger: A legend departs from cricket
Dean Elger is one of South Africa's most prolific opening batters. His hard knocks helped him leave his mark throughout the game's red-ball format, in which he played a key role. Throughout his career, he participated in 85 Test matches and amassed over 5000 runs. He accomplished a half-century 23 times and broke the three-figure barrier 14 times. In addition to his bat skills, Elgar occasionally showed promise with the ball. Throughout his career, he took 15 wickets in total.
