In a low-scoring encounter, spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja left the WI batsmen puzzled and struggling for runs. Virat Kohli takes a one-handed stunner to dismiss Romario Shephard

With half of the West Indian team already out by the 18th over after being invited to bat first by India captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli was moved to the slips just the previous delivery after batter Romario Shephard (0) was beaten on the outside edge by India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja's first ball. Jadeja bowled a similar outside-the-off-stump line delivery to Shephard the next ball, only a tad fuller this time. The 28-year-old decided to swing his bat hard at the ball in an attempt to hit the cover-point region. The ball, however, managed to hit the thick edge of his bat face and flew towards Kohli's right. With only a fraction of a second to react, a wary Kohli stretched his right hand low towards the fast-approaching ball to pluck a commendable one-handed stunner.

14 behind milestone

His teammates were blown away by the 34-year-old's performance and mobbed him in delight as Jadeja took his third wicket of the game. Kohli is ranked second among Indian specialist fielders in terms of the number of catches taken in ODIs. With his 142nd catch on Thursday, he is only one catch behind former captain Mohammad Azharuddin, who leads the format with 156 catches. Overall, Kohli is now tied for fourth place with former New Zealand captain Ross Taylor. Aside from this trio, Ricky Ponting (160) and Mahela Jayawardene (218) are in the list with towering stats.
