One more brilliant 💯 from Rohit. Enjoyed the technique & application he showed in the 1st session. Also liked the positive intent from Rahane especially against the spinners. #INDvSA @StarSportsIndia pic.twitter.com/vrtxat3yD5

Former cricketers hail the Hitman
Former cricketers, Mohammad Kaif and Irfan Pathan also lauded the 32-year-old batsman for his class performance. Kaif went ahead and rated Sharma's third knock as his best in the series. Irfan Pathan praised the batsmen for surviving a tough spell and going on to stabilize the innings for India after an early loss of wickets.

Rohit Sharma equals Gavaskar's record
After his third century against the Proteas, Rohit Sharma also became the second Indian opener after Sunil Gavaskar to hit three or more hundreds in one Test series. The opener has put on the 150-plus stand for the fourth wicket with Ajinkya Rahane. Rohit Sharma with his 16th six also went past Shimron Hetmyer to become the player with the most number of sixes in the longest format of the game. Rohit scored a century in both innings in his first match as an opener for India in the Test series.
