Warner: 'Crazy conspiracy theories' undermine Iowa

Sen. Mark Warner, the ranking member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, worries that social media posts that have appeared following the delays in the Iowa caucus could be signs of foreign interference.

Warner said that he has not seen any indication that the confusion that led to the delay in results being released is a sign of "outside interference in the system."But he worries about social media posts that have appeared since the caucus, which try to sow doubt in Americans' minds about whether their vote makes a difference.

"What we're not sure, though, is whether some of that content that's trying to diminish Americans' confidence in the vote is not being generated by Russian or other foreign activity," said Sen. Warner."I fear that some of the social media content that's out there is coming from foreign sources."

Warner also told the AP prior to President Donald Trump's state of the union address that if Trump is acquitted in the impeachment trial he worries that Trump will take it to mean, "that even the gloves are off more.""That's not good for our country," said Warner.
