Former India opener Wasim Jaffer recently appeared on a YouTube podcast, where he touched upon various topics related to Indian cricket. Jaffer, who is considered one of the greatest batters in India's domestic cricket, heaped massive praise on Indian captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Rahul Dravid, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar for scouting young talents and giving them a chance to play for India.

Wasim Jaffer particularly highlighted the recent debut of Dhruv Jurel, noting that the young wicketkeeper-batter was nowhere in the picture before being scouted by Rohit Sharma and the management. He expressed admiration for how Dhruv Jurel was identified and given the opportunity to play Test cricket.

"I was surprised because he suddenly came into the scene. He was nowhere in the picture. Credit should be given to those who scouted him. To bring him suddenly into the Test team because he wasn't in the reckoning. Either it was Rishabh Pant, or KS Bharat, or KL Rahul. They brought him out of nowhere and realised that it can work well," Wasim Jaffer said on the TRS Clips.

"Jurel should be patted on the back too for the way he responded, scoring 90 against England. Then in the IPL too. He has the skills. It's not just him. Actually, many more have it. It's just about getting a chance," Jaffer added.

Wasim Jaffer also praised the Indian team management for providing chances to new talents such as Sarfaraz Khan, Devdutt Padikkal, and Akash Deep. He emphasized the importance of these opportunities, stating that many players have the skills but need the chance to showcase them.

Dhruv Jurel made his debut replacing KS Bharat in India's Playing XI in the third Test against England at Rajkot, scoring 46 runs. He bettered this performance with a knock of 90 to bail India out of trouble in Ranchi. Standing firm against England, Jurel's innings was crucial as he helped India reach a total of 307 in the first innings.

Dhruv Jurel's performance was not limited to batting; he also took three catches in the match. He finished the series with 190 runs from four innings at an average of 63.33 and inflicted seven dismissals as India clinched the series 4-1 against England.

Dhruv Jurel plays for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He performed well in IPL 2024, playing 14 matches and hitting 195 runs.
