Netizens show no remorse on Sandakan
After Lakshan Sandakan had committed a huge blunder, the cricket fans had no hesitation in having fun at his expense. Here are some of the reactions.
Steve Smith has a lucky escape
In the 13th over, David Warner smashed Sandakan's ball right back at the non-striker's wicket which the bowler soon collected and picked stumps in an attempt to run Steve Smith, who was far away from the crease, out. However, an error from the Lankan bowler saw him dislodge the wicket with one hand with the ball being another hand. As a result, the third umpire had to rule in Australia's favor declaring Steve Smith not out. The rule states, in case the bails have been dislodged, the fielder has to pull out a wicket keeping the ball in contact with the wicket to run any player out.
Sri Lanka bundled out for 117
Kusal Perera top-scored with 27 as tight bowling from Australia restricted Sri Lanka to just 117 off 19 overs Wednesday in the second Twenty20 in Brisbane. The home team emphatically won the first of the three-match series in Adelaide on Sunday, thrashing the visitors by 134 runs, with David Warner smashing a century. It was Australia's biggest-ever win in the format and Sri Lanka's heaviest T20 defeat, with skipper Lasith Malinga urging his team to show character at the Gabba and bounce back. The third and final T20I will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday. The Aussies will be aiming to register a clean sweep while the visitors will be looking to salvage pride.
