Rahmanullah Gurbaz: The Man with a Golden Heart

In the early hours of Sunday, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Afghanistan's opening batter, did something very kind on the streets of Ahmedabad. He put money next to sleeping people without waking them, in a kind and quiet way that represented the spirit of giving during the holiday of Diwali.

South Africa beat Afghanistan in the last game of the 2023 ODI World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Even though they lost, Hashmatullah Shahidi and the team should be very proud of their season because they finished in sixth place, which is very respectable.

Afghanistan had some great wins in the event, including ones over tough teams like England and Pakistan. At the Wankhede Stadium, they especially gave Australia, the five-time winners, a tough game.

Gurbaz had a decent performance in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023

Gurbaz had a big event. He scored 280 runs in nine games, with an average of 31.11 and a strike rate of 98.93. He scored important fifties in wins over England and Pakistan, but his form started to drop towards the end of the season, and he only scored 56 runs in his last four games.

Afghanistan and India have a special relationship, as shown by the fact that Afghanistan plays its home games in India, was invited to dinner by former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, and had a lot of support from the fans during the World Cup. The Afghanistan camp also benefits from having Indian coaches, especially Ajay Jadeja, whose guidance has made a big difference.

While playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in this year's Indian Premier League (IPL), Rahmanullah Gurbaz was exposed to Indian culture for the first time.
