West Indies women's team: Gus Logie appointed as interim head coach
On the appointment of Gus, Jimmy Adams, CWI’s Director of cricket said that he was appointed for his experience working with the group. He was quoted on the official website, “Gus has a long history with West Indies cricket, both as a player and as a coach. He has been a part of the women’s team for the last two years and knows the players' techniques and skillsets. I have no doubt he will continue his hard work in preparing the team for India Women and then the T20 World Cup next year.”
When quizzed on departing head coach springer, Adams said that he'll continue assisting coaching programs for West Indies cricket. Adams further added, “We are extremely grateful to Hendy for his contribution to the women’s program over the last two years and we will continue to exploit his prior experience within Coaching Education.” Logie’s first assignment will be preparing his team for the tour of India. The month-long tour starts in Antigua on November 1. A new team manager will also be appointed after current team manager Anne Brown John was appointed as the Chief Selector of Women’s and Girls cricket.
The recruitment process for a new head coach will begin immediately. Meanwhile, Ms Evril Betty Lewis will take over the role of team manager for series vs India. The West Indies women host India women in 3 One Day Internationals. They will also play 5 T20Is. The tour is scheduled from November 1-20, with the matches to be played at St. Lucia, Antigua and Guyana.
