The rise and fall of Ishan Kishan has been quite a documented affair, as the rising wicketkeeper-batter seemingly failed to terms with the BCCI after he chose to take a break from cricket. After the ODI World Cup heartbreak, Kishan was barely seen in action as he did not compete in the following series against South Africa, Afghanistan and England. Kishan was also cut off from the list of annual contract renewals, which gave rise to a surprising situation. The wicketkeeper-batter has opened up to his time of struggle, and revealed that no one tried to understand him except for his family and peers.

Ishan Kishan opens up on his break, says it was a depressing phase & no one understood him

Ishan Kishan's standoff with the BCCI went till the extent of him not receiving a renewal from the team despite his performance. Kishan seemed to battered and bruised and wanted to get rid of the fatigue by taking a break. But situations got out of hand as the wicketkeeper-batter did not oblige with the BCCI's strict warning to feature in domestic cricket despite being fit to play. Kishan recently opened up on that time during an interaction with The Indian Express, where he revealed that he did not feel right, and no one understood him except his kin's.

"It meant there was something wrong. I was not feeling well or right and so I decided to take a break. Sadly, barring my family and a few close people, no one understood that. It was depressing. Today, I don't want to say that everything was fine. It was not easy for me at all.
