Australia's explosive opening batsman David Warner suffered a rare failure during the clash against New Zealand during their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 clash at Lord's on Saturday. Warner, who is the leading run-scorer of the ongoing showpiece event could neither add far too many runs in his tally nor could he lay a solid foundation for his side as he was dismissed for 23-ball 16. While Warner might have been dismissed in a bizarre manner, it was a beautiful delivery from fast bowler Lockie Ferguson which got the better of the swashbuckling batsman.

It happened in the 10th over of the first innings which was also the first over of the pacer's spell. On the very first delivery, Ferguson bowled a delivery at 142 KPH. It was bowled short and was on the middle. Warner found himself in two minds whether to play the shot or leave the ball. Eventually, he thought about leaving it but it was too late as the ball made contact with his gloves and went straight into the hands of Tom Latham who made absolutely no mistake behind the stumps as a stunned David Warner went back to the pavilion.

New Zealand will be looking to consolidate their semifinal spot as they lock horns against reigning World Champions Australia. Meanwhile, the Aussies would be hoping to repeat their 2015 World Cup final heroics by registering yet another win under their belt as they aim to finish on top of the points table after becoming the first team to qualify for the semis. The five-time winners are currently at the summit of the table with six wins from seven matches and 12 points while the Kiwis are at the third position with five victories in their 11 games and 11 points in their tally.

Australia are coming into this contest after a morale-boosting 64-run win over arch-rivals England while New Zealand had suffered their first defeat of the tournament against Pakistan by six wickets.
