Team India are all set to open their T20 World Cup Super 8 campaign. While in the West Indies, the Men in Blue, led by Rohit Sharma, will face some of the top cricketing powerhouses. The West Indies pitches are fairly new to the side since India played most of their group-stage matches in New York. But the team is known to adapt to conditions and is expected to be a dominant side when they open their Super 8s campaign. Ahead of their first clash, coach Rahul Dravid hinted at the Playing XI, suggesting that a player who has been warming the benches since the beginning of the tournament may finally get the chance to feature in the Playing XI.

Coach Rahul Dravid offers a major hint upon India's Playing XI vs Afghanistan in Super 8

Team India currently has an undefeated run in the group stage, and they will open against a dominant Afghanistan side in Barbados. After having a turbulent run in New York, where batters failed and the bowlers shined, India will feature in new conditions while in the West Indies. Ahead of the clash, coach Rahul Dravid hinted at the probable playing XI, saying that a wrist spinner will be included in the squad.

“It is tough to leave anyone out. All the four guys that we left out in the matches are all quality players. It is just the conditions and what we felt was the requirement in that particular venue made us go with that combination. Here it might be different.

"Not giving too much away, we might feel the need that for an extra spinner here and someone like Kuldeep (Yadav) or Yuzi (Chahal) may come into the picture and be a big factor for us, that is why we picked four spinners,” he said.

Team India's squad consists of two wrist spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, in what is deemed a spin-heavy line-up. But the bowlers were heavily effective during their run in the United States after the tracks failed to assist the batters. In the Windies pitch, the batters are expected to make a high impact as the Super 8 progresses.

Team India will face Afghanistan on June 20 and then will lock horns against Bangladesh on June 22. Their last encounter is an ODI World Cup Final re-match as the Rohit Sharma-led side will face Australia on June 24, 2024.
