'We just haven't...': Rahul Dravid underlines Team India's major issue in World Cup knockout matches

The Indian Cricket Team's struggles in the knockout stage of critical ICC tournaments have been something which hasn't been a surprise. The Men in Blue last won the Champions Trophy in 2013, and their cabinet has seen the lack of ICC titles ever since. Team India's tendency to choke out on critical junctures has left the fans upset, with the latest instance being the ODI World Cup final when the undefeated Team India lost to Australia. But as India's T20 World Cup opening game comes close, head coach Rahul Dravid wants the team to not dwell in the past and look into the future.

Rahul Dravid urges Team India to not take up any emotional baggage or dwell the ODI WC loss ahead of T20 WC group stage opener

After playing the warm-ups against Bangladesh, the Rohit Sharma-led Team India will play their first group stage match against Ireland. The Men in Blue are up for a new challenge as they aim for the coveted title. but before they begin their campaign in the United States, the team's head coach, Rahul Dravid, wants the squad to not dwell on the loss of the ODI World Cup and look ahead on the brighter side.

Coach Dravid, while speaking to the press before the match, reckoned that the Indian Cricket Team has played exceptionally in the WC tournaments and has been a consistent side. Now that the national team has come together and begun their hunt for the T20 title, Dravid believes it is not worth thinking about the past and instead looking into the future.

"We probably haven't been able to get across the line in the knockout game. So, we just probably haven't been able to execute in that last phase. So, hopefully we play good cricket to get ourselves into those positions again and then maybe play good cricket on the day to cross the line.

"The important thing is when you start these tournaments is not to think about that, is to actually think about getting into those positions. You have to find yourselves in those positions where you are pushing for glory and that's all you can do as a group and as a team," said Rahul Dravid.

Team India will begin their group stage against Ireland on June 05, and will head on to clash against Pakistan, USA and Canada, before the Super 8 stage. All of the Men in Blue's matches will take place in the United States.
