'I am worried,': Rohit Sharma reacts as rain looms over potential impact on IND vs ENG WC semi-final
Rohit Sharma offers a witty response as the threat of rain hangs over the potential impact on the T20 World Cup semifinal between India and England.
In the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, India and England are scheduled to face off in the second semifinal. The much awaited game is set to take place at Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27.
This match is a rematch of the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final, in which England humiliated India with a 10-wicket loss before defeating Pakistan in the championship match to win the title. The Rohit Sharma-led team will want to exact revenge on England when they play them again tomorrow.

Rohit Sharma's funny view on the prospect of rain-hit IND vs ENG T20 World Cup semifinal match
The captain of the Indian squad, Rohit Sharma, joked that if their T20 World Cup semifinal against England goes into the night, the Men in Blue would miss their booked chartered flight. He said, laughing, that Cricket West Indies and the International Cricket Council will handle their travel plans.
At Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27, the Men in Blue will take on England in the second semifinal of the 2024 T20 World Cup. Start time for the match is 8:00 PM IST (10:30 AM local time). Unlike the South Africa vs. Afghanistan semifinal, which has a reserve day, the India-England match must be finished on the same day as the final is set for June 29.
Speaking at a news conference prior to the India vs. England semifinal in Guyana, Rohit Sharma cracked a clever joke on the weather and how it would affect the match. Rohit Sharma said (via-HT):
“The overhead conditions is in nobody's control, you don't know what is going to happen. The only thing I am worried is if the game goes on till pretty late we have a chartered flight and we might miss that [sic],"
“But that is ok, it is the ICC and Cricket West Indies' headache to get us to the next venue. We will focus on how we can play this game well and get the result in our favor. Two good cricket teams are going to play so it's going to be a great game,"
“I don't think it is an advantage. A lot of these players have played in different types of venues. I am sure a lot of English cricketers have played here. So I don't see it as an advantage, at the end of the day, you have to play good cricket to win. That is how I look at it,”
The 37-year-old Indian skipper also disputed assertions that India had an unfair edge because the ICC had already decided that, should they advance, the Team India would play the second semifinal in Guyana. Rohit Sharma retorted that England's players are likewise conversant with West Indies weather.
India was given the second semifinal in Guyana. The first semifinal is set to start at 6:00 AM IST and the second semifinal at 8:00 PM IST.
