One of the most controversial aspects has been the drop-in pitch being utilized at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. After two incredibly low-scoring matches and the scare of the players getting hurt, the newly built venue has been attracting criticism. With a pivotal clash between India and Pakistan all set to take place at the venue, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has begun to take some action to take the attention away from the pitch, which has been labelled as dangerous.

ICC, T20 WC committee take action at Nassau County track ahead of IND vs PAK clash

The track at Nassau County has been subject to intense criticism after the two matches, the IND vs IRE and SA vs SL clashes ended up being a low-scoring affair. The unusual bounce in the track led to the India skipper Rohit Sharma getting injured during the match after the ball hit his finger, leading to him getting retired hurt and coming out of the competition. Reports state that Team India informally complained about the pitch after the match. On Thursday, the ICC admitted that there were problems with the track and stated that they are working to "remedy" the problem for the other matches.

According to a Times London report, the governing body rejected the allegations that the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan on June 9 will take place somewhere else. The organizers did acknowledge that there were issues with the field of play, and they gave the assurance that corrective action would be taken before Sunday's game.

“T20 Inc and the ICC recognise that the pitches used so far at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not played as consistently as we would have all wanted. The world-class grounds team have been working hard since the conclusion of yesterday’s game to remedy the situation and deliver the best possible surfaces for the remaining matches,” the ICC's statement read.
