Rohit Sharma hurls sheer confidence against Bangladesh as recorded by the stump mic
During the T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eight encounter versus Bangladesh at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, India captain Rohit Sharma delivered another moment that would never be forgotten, captured on stump mic. India made history by defeating Bangladesh by 50 runs in their second Super Eight match, sending them to the T20 World Cup semifinals for the second consecutive year.
Rohit Sharma's humorous side came to the fore after Kuldeep Yadav removed Shakib Al Hasan, who had just hit a six, in the fifteenth over of Bangladesh's chase. Mahmudullah, the next batsman, was duped by a Kuldeep googly that narrowly missed the off stump. After Kuldeep suggested that field positions be adjusted, Rohit went up to Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper, and said:
“Kya hai, khelne de na yaar, abhi abhi aya hai aada maarne de na, ek out hua hai aada maarne de (What's it, let him play across the line, he has just come to the crease after a dismissal, let him play across the line).”
In his second outing at the 2024 T20 World Cup, Kuldeep Yadav claimed three wickets for 19 runs, helping India defeat Bangladesh. His effort helped India move up to the top of Group 1 in the Super Eight points standings. The thing that truly stood out, though, was Hardik Pandya's performance throughout. Pandya's uninterrupted fifty off 27 balls, which featured three sixes and four boundaries, helped India reach 196 for five. He took a wicket for 32 runs in three overs and contributed with the ball as well.
With a semifinal berth in mind, India's next matchup is against Australia on June 24 at Gros Islet's Daren Sammy Stadium.
