PAKISTAN's QUALIFICATION SCENARIO: How can Pakistan qualify for T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8s?
Pakistan's spectacular meltdown in loss to India in T20 World Cup 2024 has put them on the brink of a premature exit. Here's how they can still qualify Super 8
Pakistan have had a catastrophic start to their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign as they have ended up losing their first two group stage games against India and USA. Pakistan were in cruise control against India chasing a total of only 120 runs but somehow they found a way to lose at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium and now find themselves in a very tricky spot in the tournament.
Pakistan have shot themselves in the foot by losing against USA and choking a winnable clash against arch rivals in India. With 0 points after their first two games, Babar Azam and his side’s chances for qualifying into the Super 8 of the tournament remain bleak and once again they will have to rely on other team’s results to progress into Super 8. Let’s take a look at Pakistan’s qualifying scenario.
Here’s how Pakistan can qualify into Super 8 of T20 World Cup 2024
Pakistan’s fate in this T20 World Cup doesn’t lie in their own hands anymore. Babar Azam and Co. first and foremost need to win their remaining two fixtures against Canada and Ireland. Then they want either of USA or India to lose both their games.
If Pakistan win their remaining two games then they will be on 4 points, USA and India are currently on 4 points each hence if either of the two teams end up winning even one game then Pakistan will get knocked out. If either side loses two games and Pakistan win both their games then only they will be back in the equation as the net run rate would come into play.

India vs USA match will be key
The group leaders in India and USA face each other in New York on Wednesday, 12th June. This matchup will be crucial for deciding the fate of Pakistan. The weather forecast as it stands shows that there are chances of rain. If rain arrives and the match gets washed out then Pakistan will be eliminated from T20 World Cup as both India and USA will qualify for Super 8 with 5 points.
Before focusing elsewhere, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam needs to make sure that Pakistan tidy up their own business first. They will get a chance to do that when they face Canada in T20 World Cup on Tuesday.
