'Knocking Australia out': Rohit Sharma's hilarious reply to biggest takeaway from previous game

India and England are all set to clash in the second semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The highly anticipated match is scheduled for Thursday, June 27, at Providence Stadium in Guyana.

Rohit Sharma's hilarious reply

During the pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was asked about the biggest takeaway from India's previous game against Australia. With a touch of humor, Sharma quipped that the biggest takeaway was knocking Australia out of the competition. 

"The biggest takeaway for me is that Australia is no longer in the competition," Rohit Sharma said with a smile as reporters in the room burst into laughter.

In their final Super 8 clash, Australia faced a must-win situation against India to secure a spot in the semi-finals. Rising to the occasion, India delivered a decisive victory, eliminating Australia from the tournament. Australia’s elimination was sealed a few hours later when Afghanistan triumphed over Bangladesh in the final Super 8 match. 

It is important to note that Australia defeated India in the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup, where the Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue had reached without losing a single game. In the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, India are once again undefeated and have reached the semi-final.
