'Kabhi Khushi, Kabhi Gham mein...': Gulbadin Naib responds to Ashwin on 'cramp' moment in EPIC style

Gulbadin Naib became the centre of another 'spirit of cricket' controversy for faking a cramp in Afghanistan's T20 World Cup victory over Bangladesh.

Afghanistan sealed a historic qualification into the T20 World Cup 2024 semi finals after their dramatic 8 run victory over Bangladesh by Duckworth Lewis system (DLS).

However, Afghanistan's Gulbadin Naib sparked controversy in world of cricket when he apparently faked an injury to prevent Bangladesh from going past the DLS par score in the 12th over of the game with Ravichandran Ashwin joking on X that Naib should've received a red card for his play acting. As the dust has settled, Gulbadin Naib has finally spoken out on his injury and gave an epic response to Ravichandran Ashwin.

Gulbadin Naib's epic response to R Ashwin

Afghanistn's Gulbadin Naib was the eye of the storm by former cricketers, pundits and current cricketers after him faking the injury. The moment came when Afghan coach Jonathan Trott asked the players to slow things down as Bangladesh were 81/7 and two runs behind the DLS par score. 

Suddenly, Gulbadin Naib went down on the first slip holding his hamstring. Gulbadin Naib slowed the game down and few minutes later he was back on the pitch for Afghanistan.  

The incident caused a lot of furor but Ravichandran Ashwin jokingly took to X to say, “Red Card for Naib”. Gulbadin Naib has finally came out and gave an epic reply to the offie as he referred to a Bollywood Indian classic move ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam’. 

“Kabi khushi kabi gham main huta hai. Hamstring (It happened in Kabi Khushi Kabi Gum)”, replied Naib.

Naib and Afghanistan dugout certainly won't mind any of the spirit of cricket conversation which has followed since the incident. For all they care, they will be playing the nation's first ever Semi Final in a cricket World Cup be it T20I or ODI when they face South Africa up next.
