T20 World Cup 2024: India's nightmare comes true as UMPIRES for India vs Australia clash announced

The highly anticipated Group 1 Super Eight match between India and Australia in the ongoing T20 World Cup will be officiated by the English duo, Richard Kettleborough and Richard Illingworth, at Gros Islet, Saint Lucia on June 24.

Richard Kettleborough has officiated in several key ICC events where India was eliminated in the knockout rounds. These include the 2014 T20 World Cup final where India lost to Sri Lanka, the 2015 ODI World Cup semi-final defeat to Australia, the 2016 T20 World Cup semi-final loss to West Indies, the 2017 Champions Trophy final where India was beaten by Pakistan, and the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final loss to New Zealand.

Richard Kettleborough also umpired the ICC World Test Championship final between India and Australia last year, as well as the ODI World Cup final between the same teams a few months later. Australia emerged victorious in both finals.

India's first Super Eight match, set against Afghanistan on Thursday, will see the Australian pair Rodney Tucker and Paul Reiffel as umpires, with David Boon serving as the match referee. For India's game against Bangladesh in Antigua on June 22, the officials will be Michael Gough from England and Adrian Holdstock from South Africa.
