Team India stranded in Barbados: Hurricane Beryl elevated to 'Extremely dangerous' category
Team India has been stuck in Barbados after their T20 World Cup 2024 victory over South Africa in the finals.
Team India are the newly crowned Champions of the World after their epic victory over South Africa by 7 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 final at Kensington Oval in Barbados. The team was to return back to India to celebrate their World Cup glory with fans however those plans have been halted as the Team was stranded in West Indies due to a ‘Hurricane Beryl’ hitting Barbados coast.
In more bad news to Indian cricket team, the status of Hurricane Beryl has been upgraded to ‘Extremely Dangerous’ as situation regarding the storm in the Caribbean Islands has worsened.
Hurricane Beryl elevated to ‘Extremely Dangerous’
Hurricane Beryl the storm due to which Team India has been struck in Barbados is set to hit the Southeast Caribbean region around Barbados and surge to Windward Islands on Monday.
The National Hurricane Center has elevated the status of this hurricane to ‘Extremely Dangerous’ category 4 storm with forecasted to bring life threatening winds to the region.
“This is a very serious situation developing for the Windward Islands… (Beryl) forecast to bring life-threatening winds and storm surge … as an extremely dangerous hurricane”, warned the National Hurricane center.
A category 4 hurricane is a life threatening hurricane which can cause catastrophic damage to human life and can also collapse roofs and walls.

What does this mean for Indian Cricket Team?
With the situation of Hurricane Beryl worsening and the storm producing life threatening winds it is extremely hard to foresee Rohit Sharma and his men fly back home any time soon.
There were reports that BCCI can book a charter flight from USA and return back home however given the serious nature of the hurricane nothing has been confirmed on when will Team India return home.
Additionally, five players in Rinku Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Khaleel Ahmed and Shivam Dube were all supposed to travel to Zimbabwe for the upcoming T20I series but are stranded due to hurricane.
