Virat Kohli's disappointing T20 World Cup 2024 campaign hit a new low on Thursday, June 27, as Reece Topley dismissed him in the high-stakes semi-final between India and England at Providence Stadium, Guyana. Virat Kohli abuses himself
Virat Kohli managed a run-a-ball nine before being bowled by his Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) teammate, Reece Topley. Kohli had just hit a stunning six off Topley but succumbed to a sharp length delivery that came back in, attempting an ambitious shot over deep mid-wicket, only to see his stumps shattered.
Kohli has scored just 75 runs in seven innings in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.
Adding to India's woes, Rishabh Pant was also dismissed, leaving the team in a precarious position at 40/2 after 5.2 overs. Rohit Sharma, who was given a lifeline after being dropped by Phil Salt, now holds the key to stabilizing the innings. Suryakumar Yadav has joined Sharma at the crease, with the hopes of Indian fans resting on their shoulders.
The match has currently been halted by rain and a wet outfield. India are 65/2 in 8 overs.
England captain Jos Buttler opted to field after winning the toss in the high-profile T20 World Cup semi-final against India here on Thursday.
Both teams remained unchanged.
