'WWE main toh India ka flag leke aata tha': Fans irked with Jinder Mahal for picking Canada over IND

Yuvraj Singh Dhesi a.k.a. Jinder Mahal, has picked Canada over India ahead of the India vs Canada T20 World Cup 2024 match. Just hours before the start of the game, Cricket Canada released a video which featured Jinder Mahal. In the clip, Dhesi could be seen announcing his allegiance to Team Canada. Witnessing him picking Canada over India, many fans left a vexed response on social media. Mahal represented India for a continuous period in WWE and his gimmick of “Modern Day Maharaja” was specially enacted to draw the attention of the Indian audience.

Former WWE champion Jinder Mahal picks Canada over India

While fans are criticising Yuvraj Singh Dhesi for choosing to support Canada or India, the wrestler is known as a Canadian wrestler. He was born in  Calgary, Canada, and is a Canadian passport holder. The former WWE champion although is of Indian descent. Here is the video of “Maharaja” siding with Canada.

Varied reactions ensued following the release of the clip. Nevertheless, paying heed to the response of fans “The Maharaja” wrote on social media that he supports both teams.

India vs Canada: Preview

India will take on Canada in their fourth match in T20 World Cup 2024 in Florida. India have so far won all its contests and subsequently qualified for the Super Eight stage. India will look to enter the next phase with a win under their back. As for Canada, they are out of the tournament. However, they will have certain takeaways. They defeated Ireland, who are more prevalent in the cricketing scene. The match against India will conclude their campaign.
