After only playing one Test match in 2004, it was Gambhir's first complete series against Australia. Even with his remarkable career totals of over 13,000 runs at an average of 51.85 with 41 centuries, Ponting clearly struggled in India. Ponting's average from 14 Tests played in the nation was just 26.48, with one century. Speaking on Star Sports' Cricket Connected show, Gautam Gambhir said: "He was at silly point, and he said ‘you haven’t set the world on fire’. I said ‘Neither have you in India.
