Australia is still holding the top spot on the medal tally at the end of Day 5, while India continues to dominate the sixth spot, having secured its 13th medal at CWG 2022. As India's experienced lifter Vikas Thakur clinched a hard-fought silver in the men's 96kg final and mixed badminton team settled for a second-place finish, the men's table tennis team and women fours lawn bowls team clinched gold each on Monday, taking the country's medal tally to 13.

In CWG 2022, India continues to remain in the sixth position on the medals tally after winning its 13th medal on Day 5 of the Commonwealth Games 2022. The country is looking to better the tally it achieved back in the 2018 edition of the Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast. India finished the campaign with 66 medals in total including 26 Gold, 20 Silver and 20 Bronze.

The Birmingham Commonwealth Games kickstarted with a brilliant start with one of the most fabulous opening ceremonies in recent memory. Meanwhile, over 5000 athletes from different countries around the world are currently in the city of Birmingham, for the CWG 2022. There will be a total of 1875 medals up for grabs across all sporting events, with 136 gold medals set to be won by the women’s athletes and 134 gold medals up for the men’s athletes. This is the first time in the history of the showpiece event that the CWG will feature more women’s events than men’s.

As Vikas Thakur walked away with the men's 96kg bronze medal, it is pertinent to note that India still remains in the sixth spot, ahead of Scotland, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Wales.
