Steph Curry's Golden State Warriors are set to take on the in-form Los Angeles Lakers in a pre-season NBA game on Thursday, October 17 (8.00 AM IST). In what is a three-game series between the two Western Conference powerhouses of the NBA, the Lakers are leading 1-0 and will look to gain a psychological advantage at the start of the season with another win over the Warriors. Even though both the teams have been without many of their top players, the Lakers had impressed in the first game with a 104-98 win over the Warriors. Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee will be some of the players to watch out for once again.

Lakers' injury woes
Former New Orleans Pelican star Anthony Davis was left out of the squad for the game on Monday night, owing to a thumb injury. The six-time NBA All-Star was spotted with an ice pack on his hand after emerging from the locker game after the first quarter during the game against Brooklyn Nets in China. The towering American is all set to miss the rest of the Lakers' preseason games. Davis has missed a minimum of seven games in each of his seven seasons. The Lakers, therefore, will have to bide their time in order to see their star acquisition dominate the court.
LeBron James was also rested for the game against the Warriors. This also meant that the Lakers' pre-season win against the Warriors was all the more admirable. While a pre-season victory cannot be taken as gospel truth, a few points are worth noting for the Warriors. Steph Curry seemed to have struggled to impose a presence in the game against the Lakers. Arguably one of the greatest shooters in NBA history, Curry finished with just 17 points in the game. With the Warriors opting to rest Draymond Green and D'Angelo Russell, it was upon rookie Jordan Poole to play the supporting act for the side.

Poole managed to calmly bury a three-pointer in the final minutes of the game. His confidence in offense will bode well for the Warriors in the upcoming game. The Warriors have one of the most terrifying offensive line-ups in the NBA this season, but they failed to click against the Lakers at the Staples Center last time around. The form of Marquese Chriss, however, will be a positive omen for the Warriors. Chriss registered a four-assist game for the third consecutive pre-season match for the Warriors.
