Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton has expressed that he feels like ‘giving up everything’ after witnessing the state of the environment and the mess that humankind has created. The racer also urged his fans to go vegan, and do their bit in restoring balance to the eco-system. Hamilton had switched to a vegan diet in 2017 and even invested in a plant-based restaurant in London. The 34-year-old, who is on the brink of sixth F1 win, made his feelings clear via a series of Instagram posts.
In his posts, Hamilton wrote that he was saddened by the thought of where the world was going. He further added that the extinction of humankind was becoming more and more likely as we abused the Earth and overused our resources. He called the world a messed up place and accused the world leaders of being uneducated or apathetic towards the condition of the Earth.
The racer stated that education was a key factor in contributing as we had been taught over the years that eating animal products was good. He called it a lie. Hamilton acknowledged that it had taken him 32 years to understand the impact he was having on the world and was trying his best to figure out how to play a role in making things better. Hamilton said that he wanted to be part of the solution and that going vegan was the only way to save our planet.
