Ferrari set for crisis talks with Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc after crash

Ferrari has summoned drivers Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc following their crash on Sunday. The warring drivers, fighting for the 4th position in the Brazilian Grand Prix, crashed out with 5 laps remaining. Both drivers have been asked to assemble at Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters for a crisis talk.

Ferrari summons Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc for crisis talks

Ferarri Team Principal Mattia Binotto refused to blame the drivers for the crash. He also said that they wouldn’t be fined. Ferrari withdrew both Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc from a scheduled media briefing in Interlagos on Sunday, and likely to be reminded of their responsibilities in the crisis talk.

Ferrari's Binotto: Vettel and Leclerc won't be fined

Binotto added that drivers could come to a wrong decision when doing things in the heat of the moment. He said that he heard from both the drivers and will decide and discuss when he meets both Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc. Binotto further said that Ferrari would analyse the video and data. He said that the crisis meeting is not to pinpoint mistakes or to penalise or to blame Sebastian Vettel or Charles Leclerc. He also added that this thing should not happen and the freedom to fight shouldn’t lead to any more silly mistakes.

Lewis Hamilton costs Albon first podium finish

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the race from pole position, his third victory of the season. Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly surprisingly finished second while McLaren’s Carlos Sainz finished third. Sainz finished third after Britain’s Lewis Hamilton was handed a 5-point penalty for a crash with Alex Albon. Hamilton admitted his fault in the collision Albon that cost the young racer his first-ever podium. He said that he totally accepts the blame and he was trying to catch up with Verstappen when the accident happened.
