Disaster has struck for Luka Modric and Croatia at the Euro 2024 as Albania have stunned the 2018 World Cup finalists with a 95th minute equaliser to end the match 2-2 and put Croatia on the brink of a shock early exit from the tournament.
It all started in calamitous fashion for Croatia as Albania took an early lead through Qazim Lachi's thunderous 11th minute strike to hand his nation the lead in the game. Croatia were pegging and pressing for the equaliser but were absolutely wasterful in the front of goal for most of the game.
However in the 74th minute Croatia forward Andrej Kramaric finally put an end to the misery and equalised for Kroatia. In a flash, Croatia attacked once again and went ahead in the 76th minute through an own goal from Klaus Gjasula.
Albania and Klaus Gjasula will go on to bounce back in the ultimate redemption story of the tournament as Gjasula pounced inside the box and scored a 95th minute equaliser to make the score 2-2. Gjasula has now become the first player ever to score a goal and an own goal in the same match by coming off the bench.
The final whistle went and both Albania and Croatia shared the spoils. However, for Croatia they are fourth in Group B with only one point in their two games and now have a lot of work to do against Italy in their final game if they want to progress further in the tournament.
