Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra criticised Arsenal after they slumped to a defeat against newly-promoted Sheffield United in the Premier League on Monday night. Sheffield United won the game at home, thanks to the only goal of the game by Lys Mousset. Arsenal slipped out of the top 4 after their defeat.
Evra labels Arsenal as 'babies'
According to British media reports, Patrice Evra criticised Arsenal’s weak mentality and labelled them as ‘babies’. Evra further added that he called the Gunners babies ever since he started playing for Manchester United and nothing has changed since Arsene Wenger’s departure. He further added that Sheffield United deserved the win and he wasn’t surprised by Arsenal’s performance.
Arsenal babies lack 'leaders'
Patrice Evra said that Arsenal were weak mentally and lack leaders in the team. He also added that Matteo Guendouzi, who featured in the line-up against Sheffield United, was earlier playing for Lorient in Domino’s Ligue 2, is the best player in the team. Evra respects strikers Alexandre Lacazettte and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the ability to score goals saying that Arsenal would have been in more trouble without their goals.

Patrice Evra also narrated an incident involving him and former Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie, who famously made the switch from the Emirates to Old Trafford. He said that he welcomed Van Persie on his first day saying “Welcome to a man’s club.” Robin van Persie was at first upset with the comment but later completely agreed with Evra’s opinion. The left-back said that Arsenal were one of his favourites. The five-time Premier League winner said that Arsenal always played pretty football but never looked like a winning team. The Frenchman was always confident against Arsenal.
Arsenal are placed fifth in the Premier League table after collecting 15 points from 9 games. The Gunners trail fourth-placed Chelsea by two points while they're 10 points behind league leaders Liverpool. Arsenal have only won one of their five away games this season in the Premier League, and manager Unai Emery would hope to see this trend change if they want to finish in the top 4 and qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.
