Arsene Wenger: A throwback to the legendary manager's time at Arsenal

Arsene Wenger retired from Arsenal after 22-years of service with a record for managing in the most number of Premier League matches. Wenger managed the Gunners from 1996-2018. Wenger, who turned 70 on Tuesday, started his managerial career with Strasbourg. He also gathered experience from other France-based teams like Cannes and Nancy before moving to AS Monaco. Arsene Wenger won the French League Championship in 1988 and then moved to Japan after a 7-year long career at Monaco.

Arsene Wenger's illustrious career at Arsenal:

Arsene Wenger, who is also termed as the one who changed the style of English football, carried Arsenal to their Premier League glory in the 1997/98 season. Arsenal emerged victorious in the Premier League 2001-02 season as well. Wenger created history when his Arsenal side did not lose a single match in the Premier League 2003-04 season and went on to win the third PL trophy under the Frenchman. They were named as "The Invincibles", the only team to pull-off an unbeaten run in modern English football top-tier era. Arsene Wenger also has seven FA Cups title under his name, which is the most by any manager. Wenger was named the 'Manager of the Year' in the years 1998, 2002 and 2004. Arsene Wenger surpassed Sir Alex Ferguson's record as the Premier League's longest-serving manager and also clinched the record of managing the highest number of Premier League games in the 2017-18 campaign. Arsene Wenger announced his retirement as Arsenal's manager on April 20, 2018.
