Kylian Mbappe scores first ever goal for France at Euros
Yes, prior to his goal against Poland, Kylian Mbappe had never scored a goal for France at the Euros. His debut Euro campaign in 2020 was one to forget as he failed to score a single goal for France and went on to miss the decisive penalty against Netherlands as they were knocked out of the competition in round of 16.
But now, Kylian Mbappe finally arrived at the Euros. He put in a great performance in the second half and backed the performance up with a goal in the second half. France were awared a penalty and up stepped their captain. He made no mistakes from the spot to dispatch the penalty and score his first ever goal at Euros.
Kylian Mbappe didn't only score his first goal but amazingly this was also France's first goal at Euro 2024. Their only goal in Euro 2024 prior to this game came as an own goal by Austria in the first match.
France advance for knockouts in second place
France advance to the round of 16 of Euro 2024 as the second placed team in Group D with only one win and two draws.
The team will want to crank it up a notch in the knockout phase as their performance in the tournament has been a bit disappointing until now.
