According to recent reports in Germany, Bayern Munich are aiming to bring Pep Guardiola and Leroy Sane back to the Allianz Arena. The Manchester City manager-player duo have been heavily linked with a switch to the Bundesliga champions. However, these rumours have intensified as the season has progressed. Reports in England state that top Bayern officials had recently visited Manchester to speak to the Spanish tactician.
Arsene Wenger was also linked with Bayern
Bayern boss Niko Kovac was sacked last month after their 5-1 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt. After his departure, many top managers have been linked with the managerial role at the Allianz Arena. Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was the front-runner for the job. However, the club reportedly did not consider the French tactician as the ideal man for the Bundesliga champions. Guardiola had already managed the Bavarians from 2013-2016.
Guardiola's representative, Josep Maria Orobitg, has told to a section of media that in football, nothing is certain. He said that he spoke with Guardiola a few days back and everything is the same. Guardiola feels good at the club and also in the city of Manchester. He added that Guardiola has a contract until June 30, 2021.
City wanted a Sane-Coman Swap
The reports have also linked Leroy Sane to Bayern since last summer. It is believed that Bayern are lining up a £69 mn bid for the Manchester City winger in the coming summer transfer window. Sane’s contract with the Premier League champions expires at the end of the 2020-21 season and the player must be looking forward to discussing his future moves. There were also reports that City would be looking to demand a Sane-Kingsley Coman swap if the Bavarians tried to sign Sane. However, the swap deal would largely depend on the manager’s preference, and any managerial changes would likely impact the negotiations for the German winger.
