Croatia are on the verge of being eliminated from Euro 2024, after two disappointing results the Croatian team lies last in their group with only 1 point in hand. Today can be a make or break chance for them in this competition, if Modric and team manage to win this they can still be in the contention for the last 16.

Croatia suffered a humiliating defeat against Spain in their opening game, in their second game their hope of win dashed again as they had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Albania. Last group encounter could again be tough for them as they face Italy and they must defeat the Azurris to advance to the round of 16, if they manage to win this they can become the group runner up, but for that to happen they have to hope Albania play a draw or gets defeated against Spain.

Italy opened their account with a win against Albania and lost to Spain in their second encounter, securing a win against Croatia will be enough for them for round of 16.
The Azzurri may also qualify as one of the best third teams if they lose to Croatia, but that would also depend on other teams’ results, including Albania-Spain.

Both the teams will be facing third time at a major tournament, and have knowledge about each others game play, Italy rely on their defence while Croatia likes to play holding game, but chances at stake for last 16 both the teams will be up for a change of play.

Modric will be a sure starter tonight and will be joined by Mateo Kovacic in the midfield, Pasalic, Budimir and Kramaric will form the attacking line for Croatia, while Josko Gvardiol will lead the Croatian defence.
Apart from all these stars there is one player who can really turn the things up for Croatia, Ivan Perisic, the experienced forward can play both the sides on the field and is lethal in long shot finishing, ample game time for him could be a key to success for Croatia.

On the other hand Italy will be hoping that Nicolo Barella, Federico Chiesa, and Pellegrini all remain in their top form tonight as there will be a huge contest for ball possession and recovery against Croatia.
Both the side lacks in clinical finishing and had not been in a good scoring record in recent matches, but who knows what's in the store for today's clash.

Trivia:
: Croatia are unbeaten in their eight meetings against Italy (W3 D5) since early 1990s.
: Since the introduction of group phase in 1980, Italy have lost their final group game in only one of their nine appearances at the European Championship (W6 D2), they lost their last group match against Ireland in 2016.
: This will be the third meeting between both these teams in a major tournament.
