With Euro 2020 qualifiers in play, there are call ups galore at Chelsea FC. England manager Gareth Southgate is still on the lookout for the spine of his England squad. France, meanwhile, will be hoping to give Olivier Giroud some much-needed game time, following his freezing out at Chelsea. The French striker was caught between a rock and a hard place, having signed a contract extension at Chelsea this year. Former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri preferred Gonzalo Higuain during his time at Stamford Bridge, and as such, Giroud was relegated to making appearances from the Chelsea bench. Frank Lampard, in turn, has opted to hand the No. 9 shirt to Tammy Abraham, with the English striker repaying his manager’s faith by netting in eight goals in the Premier League so far.
