Christian Eriksen, cometh the hour, cometh the man. In one of the most beautiful stories in football, Christian Eriksen has scored for Denmark to hand them the lead against Slovenia in their opening Group D encounter.
Just three years ago, Denmark and the entire football world was shook when Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field as he suffered a cardiac arrest against Finland.

Christian Eriksen scores for Denmark in Euros return after Cardiac Arrest
It was exactly 1100 days ago when Christian Eriksen collapsed and feared for his life. There was no surety whether the midfielder would even survive the heart attack or not, let alone comeback and play top flight football again.
But as fate would have it, Eriksen fought back the heart attack and lived to see another day. And now, 1100 days later he has scored for Denmark in his return to Euros.
In a vastly contrasting emotions, the Danish superstar midfielder has given his country reason to smile this time at the Euros as he scored Denmark's first goal of the Euro 2024 campaign to hand them the lead against Slovenia in the 17th minute of the match.
The game was an end to end affair, and Slovenia took a great long range effort that glanced just wide from the goal. But then on the other end, Christian Eriksen calmed the Danish nerves with his goal.
With this goal, Christian Eriksen at the age of 32 years old has become the oldest player to score for Denmark at the European Championship.
Denmark and Slovenia play out a draw
Despite Christian Eriksen's goal, Denmark were unable to grab all three points in their match.
Slovenia were spirited and played an excellent game of football and managed to find a late equaliser courtesy of Erik Janza and his thunderous strike which ended in the back of the net.
Both teams share a point each as Denmark will be left disappointed by their effort. This also turned out to be the first draw in Euro 2024 so far.
