Cristiano Ronaldo was only 18-years-old when Sporting Lisbon played a friendly game against Manchester United, this was the moment when the youngster showed Sir Alex Ferguson what he was capable of. His skills and dazzling footwork on the pitch not only impressed the Red Devils manager but also the players in the side. With players urging Sir Alex Ferguson to sign him, the Manchester United signed him for £12.24 million.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick vs Newcastle
The Portuguese scored a hat-trick against Newcastle. Keeping aside all the speculation regarding his future, Ronaldo was on fire in the 2007-08 campaign scoring his one and only hat-trick for the club in a 6-0 home win over Newcastle in January 2008.
Cristiano Ronaldo breaks George Best's record
The 2008 season saw Ronaldo leading Manchester United for the first time, the Portuguese scored twice in a 2-0 home victory over Bolton Wanderers to take his tally to 33 goals for the season. Apart from finding the back of the net quite frequently, he also broke legendary footballer George Best's 40-year-old record of most goals from a midfielder in one season.

The first of the five came back in 2008 with Ronaldo in stunning form for United, earning him a deserved FIFA Ballon d'Or. He became the first United player to win the award since George Best 40 years earlier.

In February 2013, Cristiano Ronaldo was back at Old Trafford, but this time in Real Madrid colours for his team’s Champions League encounter. Though he scored for Real Madrid, he still received a warm reception from the United supporters who never forgot the contributions made by him for the side.
