The 132nd edition of the Durand Cup will start from 3rd August in Kolkata as Bangladesh Army Football Team will take on Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the 1st game.

The 132nd Durand Cup is about to kick off with a grand ceremony in Kolkata on 3rd August, 2023. In the opening match, Bangladesh Army Football Team and reigning ISL champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant will come face to face in what is expected to be an exciting Group A encounter. Defending champions Bengaluru FC and runners-up Mumbai City FC will also be a part of the 24-team contingent which will be seen participating in Asia's oldest football tournament. The final will take place in Kolkata on 3rd September.

  • East Bengal and Mohun Bagan have dominated the tournament winning the title 16 times each
  • Bengaluru FC won their maiden Durand Cup title last year as they got the better of Mumbai City FC 2-1 in the final

Six groups each consisting of four teams have been formed which also has two foreign teams Tribhuvan Army Football Club fron Nepal and Bangladesh Army Football Team.

Durand Cup Groups

Group A: Bangladesh Army, East Bengal, Mohun Bagan SG, Punjab FC

Group B: Indian Navy, Jamshedpur FC, Mohammedan SC, Mumbai City FC

Group C: Bengaluru FC, Gokulam Kerala FC, Indian Air Force FT, Kerala Blasters

Group D: Downtown Heroes FC, FC Goa, NorthEast United FC, Shillong Lajong

Group E: Chennaiyin FC, Delhi FC, Hyderabad FC, Tribhuvan Army Football Club

Group F: Bodoland FC, Indian Army FC, Odisha FC, Rajasthan United FC

Three of the groups A, B and C are to be played across four venues of Kolkata, while a majority of the Group D and E matches will be hosted by Guwahati’s Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium. Kokrajhar, the newest Durand Cup host city, will be hosting all matches of Group F along with a Group D and E game each. Guwahati and Kokrajhar will also host one quarter-final game each. The rest of the knockouts will be held in Kolkata.

Important Dates

The most awaited Kolkata Derby is scheduled to be held on 12th August when East Bengal and Mohun Bagan Super Giant renewed their rivalry once again. The ISL playoff match between Bengaluru FC and Kerala Blasters FC saw much ruckus on the pitch and they will take on each other again on 18th August.

The knockout stage will start from 24th August while two semifinals will be played on 29th and 31st August respectively. Winners of the two semifinals will have a grand clash at the iconic Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on 3rd September.

Sony Sports Network has bagged the exclusive rights for Durand Cup and Indian football lovers can watch all the matches live on Sony Sports. Sony Sports 2 will broadcast all the matches live on TV. The live streaming will be available on the Sony Liv app and website.
