Alan Shearer has said that Marcus Rashford has been handed timely boosts by England and Anthony Martial as Manchester United forward looked back at this best against Liverpool. Questions were asked about 21 years old's form and value for club and country as he headed for October International break. He despite everything found a target during a 2020 Euro qualifier win over Bulgaria and returned to domestic competition.

Rashford's performance

Rashford was stellar throughout the Premier League clash with rivals Liverpool, with his fourth goal of the season and ensuring that United open the scoring at Old Trafford. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side meanwhile was unable to add to or defend that lead as Adam Lallana got a point for the visiting team, but there were plenty of positives.

Shearer 's comments on Rashford

The former England Striker reportedly considers Rashford as amongst those with a man who is yet to convince as a central striker welcoming return to action of Martial who is also rediscovering his own spark. Shearer said that Marcus Rashford looked like he came back with a spring in his step after scoring for England against Bulgaria. He said that he saw Rashford play against West Ham and Newcastle recently and there was a complete lack of movement in his game. But Rashford, he said, was full of running and energy, giving Liverpool's back four problems all match.

Rashford is playing in a very average team, he said, where he has to feed off scraps so he deserved a standing ovation at the end when he was replaced by Antony Martial. Martial, who had been missing since August through injury, stepped off the bench for United against Liverpool and has already spoken of his desire to justify a standing as the Red Devils’ No.9.
