Erling Haaland leaves Man City FB group to quash transfer rumours
Salzburg's striker Erling Haaland has left a Manchester City Facebook group in order to brush off rumours linking him to the Etihad amid United interest.
Red Bull Salzburg forward Erling Haaland on Monday has left an official Manchester City Facebook group to avoid further transfer speculations. He has been frequently linked to Manchester United as well and hence this social media move is significant. Haaland has left the group, which could perhaps be a signal to those at the helm at United that he doesn’t want to harm his chances of a move to Old Trafford.
Haaland's father played at Man City
Haaland, a Norway international has seen his father Alf-Inge Haaland play at Manchester City as well as for Leeds United. He has made no secret of his support to both the clubs as well as Nottingham Forest in the past since childhood. Haaland has gained attention from various clubs in Europe for scoring an incredible 21 goals in 14 games this season, including one against defending champions Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League.
The Norwegian footballer had sparked rumours of joining City recentlty after he shared an image of his father and George Weah playing for City with the caption “heroes". It is understood that Haaland has also been a member of a Facebook group specifically for Norwegian Manchester City fans, which could put the Citizens at an advantage if they ever tried to sign him from his current Austrian Bundesliga club FC Salzburg. Hence, he left the page on Facebook to brush off the rumours as untrue.
He could solve United's scoring woes
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to reinforce his team’s attacking prowess. The team has been over-relying on Marcus Rashford after the departure of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan without proper replacements. Haaland could provide much-needed depth in the attacking front for the Premier League giants. The club is also looking at other options like Jadon Sancho and Timo Werner.
