Despite suffering back-to-losses against Southampton and Manchester United, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola insisted that the defeats were simply down to "little margins against these top, top teams".
Faltering City were beaten 2-0 by Southampton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and 2-1 by United in Saturday's Premier League game at Old Trafford.
Star striker Erling Haaland has failed to score in his last three games across all competitions, and Guardiola admitted that he would like the Norwegian to be more involved in group play.
Haaland had just eight touches in the first half against United and the reigning Premier League champions are now five points behind leaders Arsenal, who have a game in hand.
