Erling Haaland and the UEFA Champions League
Erling Haaland is making headlines in the UEFA Champions League 2019-20 season and has been scoring for fun for his club Red Bull Salzburg. He currently sits top of the scoring charts, having bagged seven goals in just four games, at a goal every 39 minutes. Haaland has already hit five hat-tricks this season, one of which coming on his debut Champions League appearance versus Genk. With further strikes against Liverpool and Napoli, Norweigan international Haaland sure adores the competition.
Erling Haaland speaks about his love for the Champions League
Speaking to a Norweigian media portal, Erling Haaland revealed that the Champions League anthem is his alarm tone and he wakes up to it every day. Apparently it's his perfect start to the day. Haaland also revealed that he is in no rush to select his next club, and played down his father's comments about his future. Haaland insisted he wants to remain grounded as he does not know what the future holds for him.
The striker also revealed that he sleeps with the match balls he's collected from his hat-tricks, adding, "I have five hat-trick balls in my bed and I sleep well with them. They are my girlfriends."
Red Bull Salzburg journey over soon?
Haaland, the son of former Manchester City player Alf Inge, says seeing great players like Robert Lewandowski and Raheem Sterling behind him on the goal-scoring charts keeps him motivated. He has scored 27 goals in 18 club appearances this season and is unsurprising that clubs have taken an interest in him with Barcelona and Manchester United amongst those rumoured to be interested. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer managed him for two years at Molde, before the manager left for Old Trafford.
But with the Champions League so close to his heart, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may struggle to convince his countryman that Old Trafford is the right place to be - unless he can return the Red Devils to their former glory.
