Europa League: Twitter reacts Monchengladbach escaped with a draw against AS Roma as the referee controversially penalised Smalling when the ball hit his face
It is the 95th minute of the game and AS Roma are leading by 1-0 at home against Borussia Monchengladbach. The fans are happy as their side is just seconds away from a hard-fought victory. Suddenly, the referee awards a penalty to the away team for a handball against AS Roma defender Chris Smalling. AS Roma players and fans are equally stunned as the ball hit Smalling's face instead and he's been booked for it too. No VAR and Monchengladbach's captain Lars Stindl scores from the spot. The controversial decision has been the talking point ever since as both the clubs and players turned to Twitter to express their thoughts.

Roma have expressed their disappointment but decide to move on as there can be mistakes sometimes.
Chris Smalling rightly couldn't believe what he just witnessed and must be gutted to see his side drop three points.
