Frank Lampard delighted to see Abraham and Tomori in England squad
Frank Lampard has told Chelsea duo Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori to up their game even more and not rest after earning call-ups to England's National team
Chelsea's striker Tammy Abraham and defender Fikayo Tomori were called up to the England national team for October's Euro 2020 qualifiers. They have performed brilliantly for Chelsea this season and their manager Frank Lampard seems to be very impressed by them. Lampard termed it as "natural progression'' referring to their selection for the national squad. As Chelsea are currently facing a transfer ban this year, Lampard has turned to his young boys to carry his side during this rough patch.
Frank Lampard happy to see youngsters in England squad
Abraham has already scored seven Premier League goals this season but will have to grind hard to get a place in the starting 11 of the England team. Lampard is very optimistic about Tammy doing well for England, he quoted “It’s well deserved, (Abraham is) scoring goals regularly. His form is really good. A natural progression, (I’m) delighted for him. He’s a proud lad and proud to get a call-up'.
Lampard added that Abraham can score at the international level. Abraham's coach is sure he has those attributes and the attitude to take that challenge of being a goal scorer for England. “There’s competition there and when he steps into that squad he’ll see that there are great strikers there already, so it’s a challenge for Tammy.” Frank Lampard told before Sunday’s trip to Southampton.
Chelsea full-back Tomori also got his first call up to the England team and Lampard said he felt ‘delighted’ for a centre-back who has impressed everyone lately “Mason (Mount) and Tammy have taken headlines, but Tomori… to see him play the full season last year (at Derby County) and then to come here… Some people would have easily doubted him,” Lampard added.'
